Some sources claim the producers are trying to rope in Pawan Kalyan to play Aamir Khan's role in the Telugu remake version, while some earlier sources said Mahesh Babu would bag the role.
In Kollywood, rumours suggest that many top heroes in the South, including Madhavan, Vijay and Surya are interested in being part of the remake. Madhavan has already made it clear that he is open to reprise his role in Tamil as well.

3 Idiots is the highest grossing Hindi film in Tamil Nadu, where it has managed to gross a record Rs. 1.65 crore from 22 screens in its very first week. National wide, the film is said to have grossed about Rs. 240 crore in just 10 days.
