Following the overwhelming success of Blender Open Movie project, Sintel, a small team of 15 creative professionals from India have taken their first step to create an open movie named “Angelo” – which is the India’s First Open Movie under production. Located at South Indian Business capital Chennai, the team is from the animation campus of Perspect-V Media Ventures Pvt. Ltd.
The movie which would use only open source methodology and software like Blender in the lead is proceeding in a considerable pace and is expected to be released worldwide in the early August of 2011.

‘Angelo’ conceived by AVR, Director of Perspect-V lays bare an endeavor of a fairy with a desperate and depressed man, Kevin as a mixture of fantasy and reality. The Movie running at a length of 15 to 20 minutes manages to convey a message to the audience of all age groups.




The movie was officially inaugurated in a ceremony on 7th December 2010, in the presence of a few distinguished guests from the animation industry and media delegates. Mr. A. Vinoth Rajesh/AVR, Director of Perspect - V Media Ventures addressed the gathering and introduced his team of warriors behind Angelo. He says “The movie is produced under the title of Open Movie incorporating open source software’s alone for the whole production realizing that the current industrial trend is completely relied upon proprietary software’s like Maya, 3DSMAX etc., Many animation movies are produced and released nowadays, using these software and copyright is contained. We wanted to do something different from others, thereby creating our own identity in the world entertainment industry. Following the success of Sintel by the Blender Foundation, realizing the potential we decided to do an open source movie and came out with a concept, ie., our Angelo”.



Angelo is under production by a team of 15 young aspirants in the creative field who realized that creativity is the boundary, not the software. The team graduated in their preferred stream animation is well versed with classical 2D animation to high end VFX. They take up this project as a proving ground of their talents.
The movie is planned to release under Creative Commons 3.0 Attribution Share Alike Licence. More details of the movie will be available on angelo-themovie.in
