CHANDIGARH: Haryana Janhit Congress-Bahujan Samaj Party alliance's chief ministerial candidate Kuldeep Bishnoi has tested positive for swine flu.
"Bishnoi's (throat/nasal) swabs sent to a Delhi institute have tested positive for H1N1 virus," Devi Lal, a close family friend of the HJC leader and party spokesperson said on Sunday. Bishnoi, who is in the national capital, has been advised caution and told to use a mask for at least a week, he added. "Though, he won't be able to attend any public meeting during this period, we will hold party functions as per the schedule," he said.
Admitting that the influenza jolt has come as a rude shock to the party which is preparing for the assembly elections likely to be announced any time now, Devi Lal maintained that the party's other leaders would make up for the loss.
A Congress rebel, Bishnoi is the younger son of former Haryana CM Bhajan Lal who had floated the new regional outfit in 2007.
