August 1 was Suresh and Yashodara Oberoi’s wedding anniversary. And this time the family had more than one reason to celebrate.

Their son Vivek Oberoi is marrying Priyanka Alva, the daughter of well-known danseuse Nandini Alva and late Janata Dal leader (U) Dr Jeevaraj Alva. Bangalore-based Priyanka graduated with a bachelors degree in Business Administration from Royal Holloway, University of London in 2003. Besides pursuing her formal education, she has also pursued a non-certified course at the Martha Graham School of Dance in New York and a course in administration and fund raising for non-profit organisations from NYU.

Vivek took his time before giving an emphatic yes to his parents’ choice. Like Vivek, who supports many social causes, Priyanka too is committed to environmental and social issues. The senior Oberois are, obviously, elated. Suresh said, “It is a very big day for us and we are extremely happy to see our son settle down. Priyanka for sure is the ideal girl for Vivek and we can’t be happier about her inclusion into the Oberoi family.” The obviously glowing mother, Yashodara, who has always had Vivek as her favourite, is grateful to God as she sees her son settle down with the lovely Priyanka. She said, “I am happy we have found someone as gracious as Priyanka who is a perfect blend of traditional values and modern thinking.”
