Chandan, who plays a geek in the film Faltu, says that the film is completely the other spectrum of Dil Chahta Hai, except that the later had well known faces and the former has a total new cast. He says to Bollywood Hungama, “But a good film speaks for itself irrespective of its cast. It's spooky but the truth is that I left Delhi to come to Mumbai after watching Dil Chahta Hai in 2001. My first step in the industry was laid after watching Dil Chahta Hai.”
Chandan says that this is the first role in his career that he got without any auditions. He said that he was om-board for the role, when director Remo D'Souza saw the film Kaminey. Remo, liked Chandan's role in Kaminey and immediately knew that he had got his character Vishnu for Faltu.
Speaking more about his role Chandan Roy Sanyal informed that the character is not exactly a geek. The character is a high scorer with very high I.Q. level, however he wants to fulfill his dream of becoming an actor. He goes against his father and changes his way of living. At last he proves himself to his father and stands still in life.
Chandan, who has a strong theater background says that he was in a fix before taking up the role in Faltu. He says that he was not sure if people will accept him in a role like this after doing Kaminey. He then approached his mentor, filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, who showed him the light, explaining him his potential as an actor to do any kinds of role.
Speaking about his co-stars Chandan told that Jaccky Bhagnani is very hard working, while Angad Bedi's inquisitiveness is what impresses him a lot. He also added that Pooja Gupta's unawareness about things is what stand out for her.
