Hrishitaa Bhatt was born in Mumbai into a Bengali-speaking family. She wanted to be a pilot but after completing her education at Trinity College, London she took Kathak lessons from Choreographer Shiamak Davar. 

She has begun her career with Liril Campaign. She is the Liril girl who with her cute smile first made it big in music videos and ads. Hrishitaa was first noticed in the music video Aankhon Mein Tera Hi Chehra in which she had Shahid Kapoor as her co-star. 

She debuted in the historical movie Asoka starring alongside Shah Rukh Khan & Kareena Kapoor, she proved her mettle as an actress. This is evident in the fact that she was nominated for Best Debut Female by Zee Cine Awards and the 'Most Promising Female Newcomer' by Screen Weekly Awards. 

Hrishitaa Bhatt was only 17 years old when Ashoka was offered to her. At the time she was not even sure that she wanted to do films. She signed Ashoka because she was keen to work with Santosh Sivan and was keen on playing the deglamorised role of a Buddhist. 

Her other movies include Shararat, Haasil, Ab Tak Chhappan, Kisna: The Warrior Poet, Jawani Diwani: A Youthful Joyride and Hey Baby, in which she does an item number. Haasil was brought major turn into her career. Hrishitaa Bhatt was Acclaimed Actress by this Feature Film and continued to work in films like Ab Tak Chappan and Jigyaasa. In 2008 she appeared in IshQ Bector's music video Daaku Daddy with Shakti Kapoor.
