She played a traumatised wife in her last release Aakrosh and found quite some flak coming her way for not raising her voice even though she was just playing an on-screen character. The commercial failure of the film has made her realise that she can't be playing a weak character anymore, something that has made her go through the scripts of her upcoming films all the more carefully.

"She has played a woman of substance in most of her films. She has held her own despite all the boys around, whether it was Ajnabee or her last thriller Race. Due to that when she was beaten black and blue by Paresh Rawal who played her husband in Aakrosh, audience just couldn't digest it all", says a friend of Bipasha.

Other than this, since Bipasha's screen time was pretty curtailed too, there were murmurs in the industry about her choice of roles. Since Lamhaa, which had released a few months back, and before that Pankh, an offbeat film, hadn't made her gain anything commercially at the box office, Bipasha pronto decided to take stock of her career.

"Well, the feedback from Aakrosh was plain and simple that audience doesn't want to see me as a weak woman. They expect me to hit back right back where it hurts most", laughs Bipasha who is taking light of the situation, "Audience just don't like to see me getting beaten up and traumatised."

This is one of the major reasons that prompted her to go by her on-screen image and do something that makes audience relate to her in a way that they have always perceive her to be.

"Yes, honestly it has been a conscious call actually", confesses Bipasha, "This is where my upcoming films like Dum Maaro Dum and Players come in. One is an edgy dramatic thriller and another is a cool action thriller. In fact I want to do more action now and kick the butt. It's time to give it all back to those who felt I was willing to take things lying down."
