Soon after India emerged victorious at the World Cup 2011, and Zaheer Khan finished as the highest wicket taker of the tournament, his proud parents were reportedly insistent on getting the best bowler (read, flavour) of the season married.
And their wish was Zaheer’s command! We hear Zaheer is planning to walk the aisle with his long time girlfriend and Bollywood actress Isha Sharvani very soon.
Buzz is that the couple plans to tie the knot this year. A source close to the couple said, “Ever since they gave their relationship a second shot, they have come even closer than before. Wedding bells are in the offing.”
How they met
The couple met at a function in 2005 when the touring Australian team was leaving India and Isha was performing at the event. But it wasn’t exactly love at first sight.
They kept bumping into each other at parties and social dos and eventually led a strong relationship for two years. Reportedly, Zaheer even helped Isha find a place in Khar.
They called it quits in 2007, post which they didn’t stay in touch. How deep must their love be that neither of the two was ever linked with anyone else in these two years of separation. On July 28, 2010, Mumbai Mirror broke the story that the couple is back together, trying to make things work, come hell or high water.
Last evening, we called up Isha to ask if the couple is indeed planning to seal their relationship with a ‘married’ tag. Isha did not deny.
But all that she simply said was, “I really don’t want to comment on this.” Zaheer however remained unavailable for comment.
