Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai Movie Review

Postby aryan on Mon Apr 12, 2010 4:59 pm

Film: Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai
Cast: Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandes, Ruslaan Mumtaz, Sonal Sehgal, Vishal Malhotra
Genre: Romance
Direction: Milap Zaveri
Duration: 2 hours 8 minutes

Story : Born loser, Riteish Deshmukh has a major problem. Girls tend to look away when he's around. So much so, he wonders if he'll ever find love. His troubles are compounded when he falls in love with Tara (Jacqueline Fernandes), an alien from Venus. Why would she be attracted to a mere clapper boy like him, when there's superstar Desh (Ruslaan Mumtaz) around?

Movie Review: It's light, breezy, buoyant and actually funny, now and then. More importantly, Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai makes up where Aladin flopped: it showcases some cosy chemistry between Gujju goner, Riteish Deshmukh and alien beauty, Jacqueline Fernandes who serenade each other with smiles, giggles, snuggles and a lot of silly banter. And if that's not enough, there's the boyz bandobast too: the funky friendship between loser number one, Riteish and loser number two, Vishal (he's on fire), the friend with the yen for the pink pussycat!

Riteish, who leads a protected life with his Gujju parents, the delightful Satish Shah and Supriya Pilgaonkar, loses his heart to Sonal Sehgal, the assistant film director who works on the same sets as him. But Sonal sadly looks at him as a mere friend. Truly, it's a typical Sad Sack story for our slack hero, until the super hot Venutian, Tara, literally falls from from the sky. She's come looking for love on a two nights-three days touristy trip to terra firma. Naturally, it's our gallant good-for-nothing, Riteish and his equally unlucky friend, Vishal who end up as her tourist guides, as she tries to find true love with superstar, Desh (Ruslaan Mumtaz) who relentlessly throws cheesy pick-up lines at her.

The film may not boast of a great story, a scintillating script, but it has enough to keep you smiling. Like Farah Khan's funny asides, Akshay Kumar's hilarious cameo, Satish Shah's search for some sleazy fun, Riteish and Vishal's comic timing.

Take a light-hearted break with this one.

A word about:
Performances: Riteish and Jacqueline make up for their lack of chemistry in Aladin. But it's the comic brigade that leads the way.

Story : A simple story, simply told by Milan Zaveri.

Cinematography : Attar Singh Saini could have created some more alien magic.

Music : Sajid-Wajid have create a foot-tapping number in the title track.

Styling : Jacqueline Fernandes scores with her glamorous, leggy look.
