Jammu: car traffic was restored on the 300-km long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on Friday, a day after it was closed due to gas leakage from a large tanker of LPG.
"Highway was reopened for vehicular traffic and the situation was defused by the controlled release of gas from the LPG tank at the end of last night," Ramban superintendent of police Anil Magotra said.
Magotra, who oversaw operations until late on Thursday said that a team of experts from Hindustan Petroleum six p.m. and came under the control of the whole technology of LPG tank has been emptied by the late night hours.
"Then the whole length of the bids were washed by water," he said, adding that the power supply, the mobile service is still disconnected, and other fire excitation have been banned in this area.
Gas leak reported last afternoon with 12,000 liters of LPG gas tank when it reached the area Nashri on the highway.
Hindustan Petroleum LPG gas carriers was on his way to Srinagar, where the event took place in Nashri, 125 km away.
