She had been brought up single-handedly by her mother. She has completed her levels in film studies & literature in London. Khan has two younger sisters. Though born Nafisa, she changed her name to Jiah after Angelina Jolie's movie GIA.
Jiah has a great passion for music & dancing.She began dabbling with music and almost came to the point of releasing an album. She knows how to play the piano and she had recorded six pop numbers before she ran out of finance.
Jiah has been consistently learning different styles of dancing for the last nine years. Today she knows belly dancing, salsa, lambada, jazz, reggae, samba & Kathak.
Her debut Hindi movie where she is pitted against the maestro,Amitabh Bachchan in Ram Gopal Verma's Nishabd. Critics have expressed their sceptisism about a young NRI's appearance in her debut movie. Her next film is with Aamir Khan in the Hindi remake of Tamil film 'Ghazini'.
