Judicial commission on memogate scandal meets today

ISLAMABAD: The meeting of the judicial commission, tasked to probe into memogate scandal, will be held at Islamabad High Court (IHC) today (Monday), Geo News reported.

The meeting of the commission, formed by the Supreme Court investigate memogate issue, has been convened by its head Chief Justice Balochistan High Court, Justice Qazi Faez Esa.

Chief Justice IHC Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman and Chief Justice SHC Justice Mushir Alam are members of the commission.

Meanwhile, Asma Jahangir, lawyer of former ambassador to US Husain Haqqani has refused to appear before the commission.

The Supreme Court Friday ruled that all petitions in the memogate case were maintainable and a Commission, comprising three high court chief justices, has been tasked to probe into the issues.

The commission would sift through the evidence and gather testimonies, to bring the facts to fore.

The commission has been invested with special powers enabling it to engage forensic and cybercrime experts in the course of investigation.
