It was not until 26th July, 1999 that victory summoned itself to the Indian soldiers, stretching the war till the period of 59 days in total. This war was also among the league of wars that were fought at extremely extended heights. Moreover this also became a cause of difficulty for the Indian troops who faced great inconvenience reaching out for resources and getting close to the enemy lines for attack. Even necessary goods and weapons could not be provided easily to the troops because of the altitude. The enemy had particularly targeted the highway of Srinagar and Leh in Kashmir.
Both India and Pakistan suffered immensely as India lost 527 people while Pakistan lost 4000 soldiers at the war front. Apart from that many soldiers were badly injured.
