KINGLY ONE WRITES FOR BLEACHER REPORT ON MELINA

Postby nahia on Sat Aug 07, 2010 11:38 am

MWO member, KinglyOne wrote an amazing article on Bleacher Report about the return of Melina. It is a great read, and Melina loved it too!

With her trademark refulgence and electricity on full display, the former three-time WWE Women’s Champion and former Divas Champion returned to Monday Night RAW after seven months out of action due to a debilitating ACL injury. In the process, the A-list Diva caused an online frenzy, which was manifested by her name trending worldwide on Twitter after her much-awaited return to RAW. Any rational person who actually follows women’s wrestling can tell you that the WWE Divas division has not been the same without Melina. RAW’s women’s division has been particularly painful to watch since her injury, and that painfulness was only slightly alleviated by the recent utilization of Alicia Fox as the Divas Champion.

We had to bare the unspeakable misery of the pretend champion Eve Torres, who we were coerced into believing was a legitimate threat in the ring, despite the fact that Great Khali moves around the ring with more speed and poise than she does. Plus, before that, we had to deal with a second Divas Championship reign from Maryse, which was one of the dullest and uneventful championship reigns in women’s wrestling history. Needless to say, Melina left a gaping hole in not only RAW’s women’s division, but also in the talent pool of the WWE Women’s Division as a collective unit.

When I have made the argument that Melina is the world’s best female wrestler in the past, smarks usually engage in uncontrollable fits of pompous laughter. And if one ever solicited an argument from them as to why they feel calling her the best in the world is so inherently preposterous, if they could cite an example, they’d cite a poor match that she’s had with Ashley or Maria for proof that she isn’t, which is absurd on its face.

In any event, the self-righteous and pseudo-omniscient chuckles of internet smarks at the mention of the name “Melina” in any positive light was momentarily quashed when the Hall of Famer Bret Hart justifiably called Melina the best female wrestler in the world.

Better yet, he didn’t just say it in passing; he said it and actually made an argument for it. Something Melina’s detractors rarely do.
