Mallika has recorded two songs. The first is composed and arranged by Julian Lennon, son of John Lennon, founder of the iconic The Beatles. After mixing of the track, the song was sent to Julian Lennon for approval. The second track she recorded is arranged by German composer Alexander Von Bubenheim, who has provided the background score for the film. Both songs have Mallika “singing in a breathy, sexy style reminiscent of famed French actress Brigitte Bardot’s legendary collaborations with musician Serge Gainsbourg.”
The rest of the music comprises five songs and three dance remixes and Venus Records and Tapes will be releasing the songs for digital and mobile downloads including iTunes in the coming weeks. The music is by Anu Malik and Sunidhi Chauhan also sings for the actress, who has a soft corner for Malik, the veteran composer of her films Murder, Bachke Rehna Re Baba, Ugly Aur Pagli and Maan Gaye Mughall-E-Azam.
While stars have sung very frequently in the era of playback, the number of lead actresses who have faced the microphone are relatively few, and include Nutan, Hema Malini, Raakhee, Rekha, Sulakshana Pandit (a trained singer), Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra.
