Mumbai Marathon: Celebs and Their Causes

Postby aryan on Wed Jan 19, 2011 5:27 am

The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2011 saw a lot of celebrities out on the street participating in the event. From Vidya Balan to Vivek Oberoi, many Bollywood actors turned up either to run the race or support a cause. Check them out.

Shilpa Shetty and Tina Ambani cheered and clapped for the senior citizens who were running the race. Tina runs The Harmony Initiative, an initiative of the Dhirubhai Ambani Memorial Trust, which works to improve the life of the aged. Hubby Anil Ambani ran the half marathon as he does every year!

Vidya Balan came to show her support for Project Nanhi Kali - a project for underprivileged girl children in poor urban and remote rural tribal communities.
Image
Neha Dhupia ran for the first time. She was there to support her NGO, Concern India, a non-profit funding organisation which supports non-government organisations in making the disadvantaged people self-reliant.

Vivek Oberoi and his wife Priyanka Alva ran to raise funds for CPAA (Cancer Patients Aid Association).

Believe it or not Milind Soman has been running races to support the Multiple Sclerosis Society of India (MSSI) for more than ten years!
Image
Deepika Padukone came for a cause too - to cheer her ‘good friend’ Siddharth Mallya who ran the full marathon. Too bad ‘Miss Long Legs’ didn’t participate herself.

That’s Siddharth Mallya – shirtless!
