Pakistan vs Zimbabwe: Pakistan Won The Match By 7 Wickets

Postby aanish on Tue Mar 15, 2011 4:26 am

Pakistan won against Zimbabwe by 7 wickets in yet another important match of Cricket World Cup 2011. Pakistan has now successfully qualified for the quarterfinal round of the tournament.
Zimbabwe won the toss and decided to bat first. However, due to rain, the match could not complete its 50-overs-each-side criterion, and Pakistan was given the target of 162 to achieve in 38 overs.
Pakistan lost early wicket of Kamran Akmal, but that did not completely help Zimbabwean side to batter Pakistan’s position. Pakistani batting line soon recovered and chased down the target in 34 overs.
Asad Shafiq, in his debut match, scored a half century and became the 23rd Pakistani batsman to score a half century in a World Cup debut match. The Man of the Match was awarded to Umar Gul for taking 3 wickets.
