NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has accepted error of judgement in appointing PJ Thomas as the chief vigilance commissioner.
Speaking on the issue in Parliament, Manmohan Singh once again accepted responsibility for the decision.
However, it took a prodding from the leader of the opposition Sushma Swaraj before the prime minister made this statement in the House.
Clarifying on the row, Manmohan Singh also said that the government will keep in mind the guidelines made by the Supreme Court while appointing a new CVC.
The original statement by the Prime Minister did not mention about his responsibilty on the issue.
As soon as he finished speaking, Sushma Swaraj objected to this omission and reminded him of his statement made in Jammu where he accepted responsibilty for appointemnt of Thomas.
Responding to this, Manmohan Singh admitted on the floor of the House that appointment of Thomas was an error of judgement and he accepted complete responsibility for it.
