Prayers work wonders, even if they are uttered in foreign lands and actress Piaa Bajpai, who is eagerly awaiting the release of her next Tamil film Bale Pandiya, gladly testifies to this fact.

Says the actress, whose fine performances in Poi Solla Porom and Goa have earned her the right to be counted among the most promising stars in Tamil, This incident happened while I was shooting for Bale Pandiya in Thailand.

I was shooting for another film in India and was supposed to join the Bale Pandiya crew in Thailand the next morning. My flight to Bangkok was to depart at 5 am. I had had a hectic day and therefore did not have the time to look into all those aspects that I normally look into before undertaking a foreign trip. As planned, I took the flight but then realised that I did not have Thai currency with me. However, I drew consolation from the fact that I could withdraw money from the ATM in the airport there.

"I reached Thailand and found to my horror that the ATM there was not working. To add to my misery, my phone too stopped working and I was only able to receive calls and not make any. Earlier, I had been told by the Bale Pandiya unit members that they would inform me where I was to stay in Bangkok, the moment I reached the airport and gave them a call. Now, I couldn't do that. I could not step out of the airport as I needed a visa and to get a visa, I had to fill a form which had a question on where I was to stay during my trip. So, without money and unable to contact my unit, I was stranded. I didn't know what to do and started praying," she explains.

"It was then that two miracles happened. One, a family from India that was on vacation offered to help me and provided me the address that they were staying in to help me get my visa. The next miracle occurred soon after.

I was praying for someone from the unit to call and Vishnu, a good friend who plays the lead along with me in the film, called me to ask me where I was. I explained my situation to him and told him to keep calling me every 30 minutes to ensure I was okay. Vishnu did just that. He also told me that a cab had been engaged to take me to my hotel and that the driver would be outside the airport with my name placard. To my relief, I found the cab driver and headed to the hotel," she explains gratefully, before signing off, "Thanks to God and the unit of Bale Pandiya, the whole experience turned out to be a pleasant one."
