Rajnath may get to complete term, but hunt for successor on

Postby aryan on Wed Sep 02, 2009 6:52 am

NEW DELHI: Amid speculation that BJP chief Rajnath Singh may be replaced before his term gets over in December, the party is still considering

when exactly to make the changes. There is a possibility that Singh may complete his tenure but the process of arriving at a choice about his successor may happen sooner.

With senior leader L K Advani "tasked" with helping bring about a consensus on the next party president, Singh's views are bound to be factored in as well.

Senior party leaders have agreed to move ahead with regular business even as the process of consultations is expected to get underway, the deadline for which has not been fixed. The fact that all leaders will have to work together is an important criterion in resolving the present mess, point out party sources.

After a three-day intervention by the RSS led by Sangh chief Mohanrao Bhagwat over the last weekend, where the party's central leaders were told to put the BJP house in order, some attempts appear to have been made to resolve internal wars and get on with the party's activities.

QnA: Is the lack of young blood in BJP the biggest edge Congress has over them?

Can RSS run independently without leeching on BJP?
