Postby nahia on Mon Jan 23, 2012 7:05 am

Baseball world was shocked earlier this month, when the reigning National League MVP Ryan Brown tested positive for performance-enhancing substances.

Now, sources tell TMZ, the test was not caused by drugs PEDs but slugger took for an undisclosed illness.

"Medicines banned substances contained in the result of a positive test," a source told TMZ, adding that Brown insists he has never taken any performance-enhancing drugs or steroids.

TMZ identifies only unnamed sources, as people "directly related to the Major League Baseball."

It is unclear why the player taking medication, or that he knew that if the medication contained banned substances.

Brewers star, who is appealing the result of an arbitrator, facing 50-game suspension if a positive test is confirmed.

Last week, the head of the baseball union says that people should wait until all the facts before drawing conclusions about Brown. Players Association leader Michael Weiner said that the drug agreement designed to protect the player from the "rush to court," adding that "fairness dictates that Ryan Braun is not treated differently."
