The fine was issued by the authorities on the basis of a photograph of Salman published in a news daily on Saturday. In the photograph, Salman was shown smoking in the Hotel Neemrana where the shooting of the film is going on.
Since smoking in public places is banned in Patiala, Salman was issued a fine of Rs. 200 by the local district authorities on Tuesday, which incidentally was also World No Tobacco Day. The hotel authorities were also issued a challan.
Salman Khan arrived in Patiala last week to shoot Bodyguard. The Hotel Neemrana is shown as the home of Kareena Kapoor in the film. Kareena arrived in the city a day before Salman.
This is not the first time that Salman Khan has been fined for smoking at a public place. In January 2009, he was fined twice for the same offence by the authorities of Karali town near Mohali. Other actors like Ajay Devgan and Shahrukh Khan have also been fined in the past for lighting up in a public place.
