Postby huma on Wed Jul 28, 2010 7:07 am

MUMBAI: The Bombay Stock Exchange Benchmark Sensex rose by over 59 points in opening trade on Wednesday after the most-weighted scrip RIL posted strong earnings amid a firming trend in the Asian region.

BSE, which gained nearly 57 points in the previous sessions, added another 59.53 points or 0.32% to 18,137.14 points during the early morning trade.

Reliance Industries that carries the most weightage on the 30-share index rose by Rs 15.20 to Rs 1,068.70 at the early stage.

The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty also surged 17.25 points or 0.31% at 5,447.85 points.

Trading sentiment remained firm in tandem with encouraging quarter results by RIL, which posted 32% rise in its net profit.

The market was also boosted after a firm trend in global markets followed by overnight gains in the US market.

Meanwhile, the Hong Kong Hang Seng Index rose by 0.71% and the Japan Nikkei index was trading higher by 1.88% in early trade today. The Dow Jones Industrial Average index rose 0.12% in yesterday's trade.
