Tour to Bhoothathankettu - Kerala

Postby Daksha on Wed Aug 27, 2008 12:00 pm

Introduction:

The backwater country at the southern tip of India, the land of secluded beaches and sparkling emerald backwaters and en indigenous cultural heritage to boast of, Kerala is fast gaining momentum as a hotspot tourist destination and looks like is all set to dislodge the most popular tourist haunts. 50 km from Ernakulam, Bhoothathankettu is a picturesque place with a dam surrounded by lush forests. The name of the place comes from a myth that says that this natural fortification of forests and hills was built by Bhoothams (spirit/ghosts) overnight. Hence the name Bhoothathankettu (fort of the spirits). If you have had an overdose of the Kerala beaches and backwaters do head for Bhoothathankettu for a totally different experience under a Keralian sun. A tour to Bhoothathankettu is therefore a must on a trip to Kerala.

Best time to Visit

Postby Daksha on Wed Aug 27, 2008 12:01 pm

Summers are uncomfortably hot and humid. The best time therefore to visit Bhoothathankettu is between October and March.
