Car market in India is heading for a show time for SUVs in India. Tagged as fuel guzzlers, bulky, boxy, sturdy and rugged, SUVs have been long thought to be the domain of the rich. However, with a new generation of under Rs 10 lakh SUVs coming up in India, garaging a SUV home will be easier for anybody. Besides, these SUVs have all of the SUV biggies in addition of being fuel-efficient.

Almost every national or international car maker in India had showcased its SUV at the Auto Expo that ended recently. Where Ford had showcased small SUV Ford Ecosport, Maruti has also pitched in the Maruti XA Alpha concept SUV. Similarly, Mahindra Xylo Mini SUV is in the making and is expected to be launched this Diwali. Mahindra XUV 500 is already there in this under Rs 10 lakh category. The French car maker Renault is expected to lead the segment by pitching in world’s cheapest SUV Renault Duster which is expected to be priced at Rs 8-10 lakh in India.

In India, SUV is synonymous with Tata Safari or Mahindra Thar or Maruti Gypsy to name a few but with new offerings coming in at attractive pricing, experts believe that there will be a rise in demand for SUVs in India.
