Yuvraj Singh - The Emerging Hero of World Cup 2011

Four man-of-the-match trophies on the trot. That too by the player who was written off by his detractors not so long back. Yuvraj Singh, the boy from Chandigarh, is turning out to be the hero of the Cricket World Cup 2011.

Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Yuvraj Singh once again rose to the occasion and saw India home against the mighty Aussies in the quarterfinal match played in Motera on Thursday. Just when the Indian batsmen looked to self-destruct again -- with Gautam Gambhir ludicrously getting himself run out and Virat Kohli looping a full-toss for an easy catch and captain cool Mahendra Singh Dhoni failing to provide the bulwark against the Aussie attack -- it was Yuvraj who held nerves and along with Suresh Raina crushed the Australian dream run in the cricket world cup since 1999.

Yurvaj knocked an unbeaten and sensible 57 and finished the match in style with a snorter across the fence, sending the three-time world cup champs back home and setting up the mother of all matches in the semi-final in Mohali: India versus Pakistan.
